ABOUT THE AWARD
BEST ANNUAL REPORT AND TRANSPARENCY AWARD (BARTA)
The award is part of a concerted effort to make Georgia a more business and investor friendly place, key ingredients to sustainable economic growth. The success of Georgia’s economy increasingly depends on the ability of the private sector to attract funds from investors at home and abroad.
Georgia boasts an enviable 7th place in the World Bank’s 2020 Ease of Doing Business Index, but the country needs to become a more attractive place to invest and, therefore, it has to improve the quality of management reporting and financial and non-financial information disclosure in general.
Following the enactment of the Law of Georgia on Accounting, Reporting and Auditing in 2016, the Best Annual Report and Transparency Award (BARTA) is intended to encourage compliance with new reporting regulations, foster healthy competition between companies, and improve the overall standard of corporate reporting as part of the country’s quest to build up investor trust and confidence at local and international levels.
